2-Day Open Water Diver Course (Intensive)

Complete your beginner scuba certification with an accelerated two-day Open Water course in Melbourne. This intensive format is designed for time-conscious students who are already confident swimmers and can complete a 400-metre ocean swim using any stroke within eight minutes.

The SDI Open Water Diver certification prepares you to dive with a buddy to a maximum depth of 18 metres, within the limits of your training and experience.

The Open Water course consists of three main stages:

• Knowledge development (online study through the eLearning platform) to understand the basic principles of scuba diving
• Confined-water training sessions to learn and practise scuba skills in a shallow, controlled environment
• Four ocean training dives with a qualified scuba instructor, followed by certification after successful completion

Exclusions

• You must have access to own vehicle. Due to the location and schedule of the course, you will not have time to access public transport
• Cost of Dive Medical (if required), some medical conditions may affect you from diving. For example, heart disease, asthma, or epilepsy. Please inform us prior to reservation if you suffer from any medical condition that may affect your diving

Pre-Course Requirements and Important Information

• Online Knowledge Development: All online modules plus one online final exam must be completed before your course starts. Failure to adhere to all of the pre-course requirements found on the course overview page (including completion of any online training or E-learning) will result in cancellation of the course. No refund will be given, and rebooking will be at full cost.
• Photo for certification: Upload a clear image of your face to your eLearning training profile
• Swimming: You must be able to complete a 400-metre swim within eight minutes and complete a 10-minute tread-water or float test. 
• Fitness to Dive: You must review Dive Medical Requirements and Fitness to Dive information before booking our courses. If you have answered "yes" to any question on your dive medical form, you are required to provide us with a signed document, stating that you are "fit to dive" from a medical practitioner before your course start date. Please email us a copy of your diver medical at least 7 days prior to course commencement
• Age: Minimum Age is 12 years. All students under 18 years of age will require parent/guardian consent before the course begins.

Note: students aged 12–14 must book a Private Course at $2,200 (covers up to 2 students).

• What you need to bring: Sunscreen, Swimwear, Towel, Drinks and snacks
• The course must be complete within 180 days of the original start date.
• Divers must visit the shop to collect their gear between Thursday and Friday prior to Day 2 of the course.

We accept students referred from SDI Dive Centres for completion of open-water training in Melbourne, Victoria. Referral students are trained and assessed in accordance with current SDI standards. Please contact us with your referral paperwork, training record, medical declaration, and referring SDI Dive Centre or instructor details.
