Details

Complete your beginner scuba certification with an accelerated two-day Open Water course in Melbourne. This intensive format is designed for time-conscious students who are already confident swimmers and can complete a 400-metre ocean swim using any stroke within eight minutes.

Before you book: mandatory equipment fitting

You must visit Simple Dive for equipment fitting at least three days before your course starts. Our shop is at 21 Indra Road, Blackburn South VIC 3130.

Please contact us to arrange your visit. You can attend earlier; you do not need to wait for your training locations to be confirmed. If you cannot meet this requirement, contact us before booking. If you have already booked, contact us to discuss your arrangements.

The SDI Open Water Diver certification prepares you to dive with a buddy to a maximum depth of 18 metres, within the limits of your training and experience.

Meet new people, visit new places and explore beneath the surface with your scuba certification.

The Open Water course consists of three main stages:

  • Knowledge development (online study through the eLearning platform) to understand the basic principles of scuba diving
  • Confined-water training sessions to learn and practise scuba skills in a shallow, controlled environment
  • Four ocean training dives with a qualified scuba instructor, followed by certification after successful completion

Schedule

Training locations for both days vary between Williamstown and Blairgowrie, depending on the weather forecast. We will confirm the meeting location for each day five days before your course starts. The two days may take place at different sites.
