Full Face Mask Diver
Details
Learn to dive with a full face mask and develop the procedures needed to use it safely and comfortably. The SDI Full Face Mask Diver course is designed for certified divers who want improved facial protection, optional underwater communication capability and an alternative to holding a standard second-stage regulator in the mouth.
The course combines online knowledge development, instructor-led review and two shore dives using a full face mask.

- Air-consumption and buoyancy considerations.

- Scuba quick-connect systems and surface-supplied configurations.
Full face mask diving procedures
- Preparing, fitting and donning the mask.
- Normal underwater use and communication techniques.
- Managing mask-related problems and practising appropriate emergency procedures.
Care and maintenance
- Post-dive cleaning and storage.
- User and field maintenance.
- Preventive maintenance and authorised servicing requirements.

What is included
- SDI eLearning and certification fee.
- Use of a full face mask during training.

What is not included

- Dive medical examination, if required.
- Spool and surface marker buoy (DSMB), available for purchase during the theory session.
- Dive torch and slate; these are optional but recommended for underwater communication.

Course prerequisites
- Open Water Scuba Diver, Junior Open Water Scuba Diver or an equivalent certification.
- Minimum age of 10. Students under 18 require parent or guardian consent.
- Completion of the online knowledge development before the course begins.
- Appropriate fitness to dive and any required medical clearance.
Medical requirements and what to bring
Review the diver medical questionnaire and fitness-to-dive information before training. If you answer “yes” to any medical question, provide written clearance from a medical practitioner before the course. Email the document to admin@simpledive.com.au at least seven days before the course.
