Course overview

Learn the proper techniques, equipment requirements and safety protocols involved in gas blending. You will cover everything from oxygen handling and filtration systems to partial-pressure mathematics.

• Prerequisite: Minimum age 18.
• Key topics: Oxygen hazards and fire prevention, cylinder handling, mixing techniques, gas analysis and record keeping.

What you will learn

• Safety and system design: Oxygen handling, hazard prevention, system design and relevant local requirements.
• Equipment: Compressors, filtration systems, cylinders and gauges.
• Blending methods: Continuous blending, de-nitrogenated air, pre-mix and partial-pressure blending.
• Analysis and documentation: Oxygen analysers, cylinder analysis and sign-out procedures.

Certification outcome

Successful graduates may engage in blending nitrox gases without direct instructor supervision, subject to applicable workplace procedures and regulations.
